Safety Engineer provides support to projects in the construction of safety cases and other safety related deliverables as specified on an individual project. The role is focused on a large and complex project and work includes: pro-active provision of technical expertise on safety issues to the project systems and design teams, the delivery of safety related assessment. Work in coordination with the safety focal point for a given project and with support from the Safety in order to: generate safety programme plans and agree such programmes with the project and the customer, commensurate with the requirements. Conduct a series of system and sub-system safety activities in support of this plan during all life cycle phases including, but not limited to: hazard identification exercises (Swift and Hazop). Hazard management and risk analysis, including fault tree and event tree analysis. Construction of safety arguments and statements. Provide support to internal and external project. Safety panels and committees. With the safety focal point, assist in the management and integration of these activities with system engineering and design programmes to ensure the timely delivery of material supporting the safety case. Liaison with Software Engineers and the software function in order to derive software safety requirements and hazards.
